Aerial view of Langevelderslag Beach, dunes and the beach entrance near Noordwijk
Langevelderslag combines the North Sea, dunes, restaurants and a large parking area in one compact beach entrance.
Quick answer

Why choose Langevelderslag after Keukenhof?

It is one of the easiest natural beach combinations with the Bollenstreek. Instead of a busy boulevard, you arrive through the dunes at beach access 27. There is a large parking area, food and drink, family facilities and direct access to a wide North Sea beach. It works particularly well for a late-afternoon walk, dinner or sunset after the flower gardens.

Langevelderslag at a glance

Beach style

Nature & dunes

A broad sandy beach backed by dunes rather than a built-up boulevard. The atmosphere is generally quieter than in the central beach areas of Noordwijk or Zandvoort.

Best for

Families & walkers

Good for beach walks, children, lunch, cycling and a relaxed end to a day around Keukenhof and the tulip fields.

Beach access

Strandafrit 27

Langevelderslag is the northernmost main beach access in Noordwijk and is also sometimes described locally as the beach of Noordwijkerhout.

How far is Langevelderslag from Keukenhof?

Langevelderslag lies northwest of Keukenhof, on the North Sea coast. The exact travel time depends on traffic, but for most visitors driving from the Keukenhof area it is a short coastal trip of roughly 20 minutes.

That makes it an especially practical choice if you want to see the flowers first and the sea afterwards. On sunny weekends and public holidays, allow extra time because roads towards the coast and the parking area can become busy.

The entrance area is being redeveloped to improve accessibility, including step-free routes, accessible public toilets, seating, bicycle parking and clearer separation between walking and cycling routes.

Visiting during Keukenhof 2027? The municipality expects the full redevelopment of the Langevelderslag entrance area to continue until around the end of May 2027. Visitors in March, April and early May may therefore encounter works or temporary routing. Follow local signs on arrival.

Dogs at Langevelderslag

Dogs are welcome, but the rules depend on the season and exact beach section. At the main Langevelderslag section, dogs must be kept on a leash from 1 June through 31 August. During the lower season there is more freedom, although the nearby Noordvoort nature section has stricter rules.

Always check the signs at the beach entrance because the coastline is divided into different zones. Local rules also require owners to clean up after their dogs where applicable.

Naturist beach north of Langevelderslag

Visitors planning a long walk north should know that an official naturist beach begins a little north of Langevelderslag, between beach posts 73.000 and 74.000. The main family beach at access 27 is separate from this section.

Walking, cycling and nature

The approach to Langevelderslag runs through the dunes, making the beach a good starting point for a longer walk or cycle ride. The surrounding coastal landscape connects with the wider dune areas north of Noordwijk.

For Keukenhof visitors, cycling can be especially attractive in spring: the route can combine flower fields, the Bollenstreek countryside and the North Sea in a single day.

Kitesurfing

There is a designated public kite zone roughly 500 metres south of beach access 27, near Radio Nora. This is a specific entry/exit zone for kitesurfers and there is no general lifeguard supervision in that zone. Visitors should follow the local signs and water-sports rules.

Swimming in the North Sea

You can swim at Langevelderslag, but North Sea conditions can change quickly. Water temperatures are often cold during the Keukenhof season, and currents, wind and waves can be stronger than they appear from the beach.

Always follow warning flags and local instructions, keep children closely supervised and avoid swimming far from shore in uncertain conditions.

What time does Langevelderslag Beach open?

The beach itself has no entrance gate and no normal opening hours. You can visit the coastline early in the morning, during the day or for sunset. Restaurants, the playground, seasonal beach services and shops have their own opening hours.

How much time do you need?

For a simple beach walk after Keukenhof, allow around 1.5–2 hours. If you want lunch or dinner, time at Speelzandt, a longer dune walk or sunset, 3–4 hours gives you a much more relaxed visit.
