From the first spring flowers to the final tulips

When do the tulips bloom, and what can you expect during your visit? Keukenhof changes throughout the spring. From the first crocuses and fragrant hyacinths to large tulips in vibrant colours, every part of the season has its own charm.

In 2027, Keukenhof is open from 18 March to 9 May.

Looking ahead to spring 2027. The 2027 flowering season has not yet begun. The calendar below is a general guide, not a live report of the flowers currently in bloom. Depending on the weather, flowering periods can start earlier or later and overlap. The dates are approximate, rather than fixed boundaries.

Keukenhof flowering calendar 2027

18 March – 14 April

Early blooms

Spring comes to life. Crocuses, daffodils, fragrant hyacinths and early tulips bring the first spring colours to the gardens. As the season progresses, more varieties open their flowers. It is a lovely time for fresh colours and the changing mix of early flowers and new buds.

15 – 30 April

Full bloom

You can generally expect a rich mix of spring flowers during this period. Larger tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinths, crown imperials and late-flowering hyacinths fill the borders with colour. Early varieties gradually give way to later blooms. The exact peak of flowering varies from year to year.

1 – 9 May

Final blooms

During the final opening days, late-flowering tulips, irises and ornamental alliums may still bring colour to the park. Fresh green leaves, rhododendrons and azaleas create a different spring atmosphere. Some flower beds will already have finished blooming; how many tulips remain depends on the spring weather.

Which part of the season is right for you?

That depends on what you would most like to see. Early in the season, the focus is on the first spring flowers. Larger and later-flowering tulips follow as spring progresses. There is no single guaranteed best day for flowers.

You can also enjoy flower shows in the indoor pavilions throughout the opening season.

Keukenhof and the surrounding tulip fields

The flowers in Keukenhof do not follow exactly the same schedule as the bulb fields around the park. The gardens combine different varieties to spread flowering across the season.

The surrounding commercial fields are used to grow flower bulbs. Growers remove the flower heads at a certain stage so that the plant's energy goes into the bulb. A field without flowers therefore does not automatically mean that Keukenhof has finished blooming.
