A restaurant right on the beach

Tijn Akersloot is a well-known beach pavilion on the southern side of Zandvoort. The restaurant sits directly by the North Sea and has an informal atmosphere that works for a morning coffee, a long lunch, drinks with friends or dinner after a day on the coast.

Because Tijn is open year-round, it is also a practical restaurant during the Keukenhof season in March, April and May.

Cooking over an open fire

The kitchen at Tijn is strongly influenced by cooking over open fire. You can see that approach throughout the menu, with seasonal vegetables, fish and meat prepared in different ways over flame and heat. The restaurant also follows the seasons, so the exact dishes change during the year.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks

You do not have to visit Tijn only for dinner. It is an all-day beach stop where you can start in the morning, have a relaxed lunch, order drinks and snacks in the afternoon or stay for dinner. The broad format makes it particularly useful when you do not know exactly how long you will spend at Keukenhof or on the beach.

Perfect for sunset

On a clear day, late afternoon is one of the best times to visit. Walk along the beach first, then find a table for drinks or dinner while the sun drops towards the North Sea. In spring the evenings can still be cool, so the year-round indoor space is a welcome advantage.

Families and children

Tijn is informal and suitable for families. The current menu includes simpler dishes for children alongside the main restaurant menu, and the beach itself gives families plenty of space before or after the meal.

Combine Zandvoort with Keukenhof

Tijn Akersloot is around 35–45 minutes by car from Keukenhof. That makes it easy to combine tulips and the Dutch coast in one day. Start at Keukenhof, drive through the flower region and finish in Zandvoort with a beach walk and dinner.

Our tip

Save Tijn for the end of the day

Especially after a colourful day at Keukenhof, the open horizon at Zandvoort feels completely different. Arrive in the late afternoon, walk along the sea and reserve dinner around sunset. It is one of the easiest ways to add the North Sea to a Keukenhof day without turning it into an overly complicated itinerary.
